The Dark Knight Rises – A Brief History of Selina Kyle

As I said, I really don’t think that there’s going to be a Catwoman in the movie.  I think there’s at least some stink on the character in the mainstream after Hallie Berry Razzie-award winning crapfest.  But more than that, I don’t think she fits into Nolan’s Gotham City.  The Dark Knight was about Big Things.  It was about chaos vs. order and whether Gotham is worth saving.  The Joker was an almost elemental force.  Batman had to choose who lived and who died, pitting the good of the city against his personal feelings.  It doesn’t seem like Nolan is going to go from that to a story focusing on museum heists.  Using Catwoman as a villain almost forces a more simplistic kind of storytelling.
