The Dark Knight Rises – A Brief History of Selina Kyle

Still, the casting of Anne Hathaway is interesting.  Now, whether she’s Catwoman or not, I think she’ll do a great job. She’s a very good actress who’s always worth watching.  But let’s fact it, the weakest part of Batman Begins was Katie Holmes.  Rachel Dawes was a reasonably interesting character, but Holmes was out of her league.  It felt like she was cast as an afterthought.  And considering that her character was played by Maggie Gylenhaal in the sequel, the filmmakers seemed to realize that – it was the only role to be recast between movies.  By casting a big name actress as a (theoretically) major character, they’re creating the impression that Rises will at least have an important female role.
