The Cape – A Look at TV’s Best (and Worst) Superheroes

The Best TV Superheroes

5.  Space Ghost – The main reason Space Ghost makes the list is that he has an awesome costume.  That Alex Toth design is simple and striking, and it makes him look a heck of a lot more exciting than anything he ever actually did onscreen would indicate.  I know that Hanna-Barbera was really under the gun to produce a lot of TV cartoons really quickly, and a lot of their adventure shows never really lived up to some great character design.  Space Ghost was a victim of this – his stories were deep as a puddle and he was saddled with irritating teenage sidekicks and a monkey.  Essentially, he beat every evil alien by either turning invisible or shooting them with a beam.  But as a kid, I loved it.  I couldn’t sit through an episode now, but the Ghost entertained me for years.  He even worked as a ironic talk-show host years later in Space Ghost: Coast to Coast.  Dude’s versatile, you have to give him that.

  1. You know what might have made Ghettoman even more offensive? If he’d had a partner named Warsaw Ghetto Man and his super power was sending back soup in a deli or something. I can’t believe that even existed!

  2. Stripperella rocks yo
