THE “I CARRIED A WATERMELON” AWARD–The producers of The Amazing Race have been at this for a while, and they know when they’ve captured a great moment on film. Just prior to the start of the 17th season, they released
a video from the first leg of the race featuring a home shopping hostess named Claire. The challenge showed racers having to use the catapult to shoot a watermelon and knock over a suit of armor. However, poor Claire didn’t load the watermelon right and when she fired the fruit, it came back her way and hit her square in the face, knocking her to the ground. Honestly, it hurt to watch, but watch we did, millions of times. Cementing her rock star status, Claire took a couple minutes, then continued on and completed the task. Furthermore, she and partner Brooke finished the race in second place.
