SURPRISE CASTING OF THE YEAR – Eastbound and Down gets this twice over. Matthew McConaughey was the funniest we’ve ever seen him as a major league scout who shows up to Kenny Powers’ last game in Mexico. We can’t really quote his advice to Kenny here, but it had us rolling. But that was only the second most surprising casting they
gave us. The big surprise came earlier in the season when we learned that the mysterious Eduardo Sanchez was Kenny Powers’ estranged father. And who played Eduardo? None other than Don Johnson! Have to say, we didn’t see that one coming.
