Trace Adkins visits Rock Solid, and I’d forgotten how big that guy is. He just towers over Bret. Bret explains that he’s having trouble getting Luke outside his comfort zone. Luke confirms that it’s scary, but you know, if he’s going to make it in music, that is a thing that has to happen. Unless you’re Tom Waits, at some point, somebody helped define your image and you played along. Especially somebody as generic as Luke – he’s not going to get on the radar unless somebody else makes it happen. Which is sort of depressing, but having somebody decide what you’re going to wear is not a bad trade-off if it means you get your music into people’s ears. If somebody picking my clothes for me would get me published, I’d take that deal in one second.
