It’s obvious producers set out to titillate the audience in this first offering of the summer series. Between Coco T (seriously, is that the name of Mrs. Ice-T?), her mother (who honestly, must have been 5 when she had her) and Raven Symone, there were a lot of boobs on the stage during the hour. And oh yes, Joan Rivers was there too. But, more than these cosmetic touches, the show featured questions that were designed for an adult audience and almost all could be interpreted in a dirty way, ala Match Game. Michael Scott’s head would have exploded immediately, as the inaugural question was “Name something that’s slippery and hard to hold on to”, to which Ice-T answered “penis” at about 8:05 pm EST. Way to go, NBC. I’m no prude, but my 5 year old could easily have been watching. Sure, they bleeped him, but still. Wayne Newton then attempted to look animated and also shock us into paying attention with his electric blue silk shirt. I was scared.
