Dancing With The Stars

Dancing With the Stars-Season 11, Week 8 Performance “Instant Dance”!

TOTAL: 57/60

Jennifer and Derek (27) Jen’s dad showed up to help her decide whether or not to continue, what with her inflamed knee tendons, or something like that.  I mean, the man is the Wizard of Oz in the Wicked-verse, so he knows from “The Show Must Go On”.  Their quickstep is totally old school and charming.  Derek has a couple little solo moments, maybe to give Jen a break, but it’s very Fred & Ginger, and Bruno agrees with me.  Carrie Ann gushes, too.  Len points out the perfect song choice of “Let’s Face the Music and Dance”.

They do an instant samba (30) to “Waiting for a Girl Like You”.  Master choreographer Derek worked up a routine Jen could do to any type of music.  I have a hard time believing they’ve never heard this song, but whatever.  Their lines are lovely are her legs are amazing.  Bruno loved the balance extension and Carrie Ann was duly impressed.  Len loved all the variations in speed and strength. TOTAL: 57/60 Kyle and Lacey (27)  Lacey has clearly attended the Cheryl Burke School of Dance Instruction this week. She’s tough on Kyle in practice and it pays off.  Their Viennese Waltz to “Breathe” looks a little hectic in spots, but he’s pointing his toes and extending his arms all over the place.  It’s–dare I say–romantic.  Len calls him an orchid.  Bruno says Kyle has charmed everyone, and compliments Kyle on how’s he listens to their criticism each week, while Carrie Ann calls the dance a “fairytale”, which may be some sort of contractually obligated Disney thing.  Kyle does a little stumping backstage for votes, and it’s totally adorable.
