Joanna & Derek–In preparation for the Quickstep (23), Derek had Joanna watch footage of Mya dancing, like it was game film or something. What they come up with is much showier than Mya’s dance, with lots of running across the floor and much bouncier steps, but I feel like Joanna can’t quite keep up with Derek. Carrie Ann noticed some out of sync moments, but liked her frame. She calls her feet “an eyesore”. Len says it was substandard. Bruno also comments on the difficulty, but basically says what I did about the running.
In their Futuristic Paso (29) Joanna & Derek are dressed as robots from Blade Runner, I think. She’s like a blonde, busty Grace Jones. I have to hand it to Derek; the choreography is impressive and Joanna, for as much as I don’t love her, really nails it. Bruno calls Derek a genius. Carrie Ann praises Joanna for not missing a step. Len agrees with Bruno and adds “fantastic!”
