Natalie Coughlin & Alec: Their salsa is competent, if not a little careful. It’s saved by her athleticism, really, but she has rhythm and could do well. Bruno says she freezes sometimes, so she has to see it through and she’ll do well. Carrie Ann calls her a diamond in the rough. Len says the salsa should be “steamy” and was mad that it didn’t knock his socks off. Man, someone needs their fiber tonight! Carrie Ann busts out the 7, while the guys go for 6’s, for a score of 19. Macy Gray & Jonathan: First of all, Macy seems high as a kite all the time, but it may just be jet lag at this point. The waltz is actually helped by the music, which is “Natural Woman”, but everything seems so lethargic to me. All things considered, however, it wasn’t nearly as bad as I expected. There’s not a lot of content, Macy’s footwork is atrocious and her arms are all over, but Jonathan is working overtime at selling it, bless his heart. Carrie Ann calls it “fascinating” and “beautiful in its own bizarre way”. Len says there is a “charm” and that he’d vote for her. Bruno says it was like watching a child take its first steps. Macy is getting the old lady critiques. And much like Cloris Leachman, she inappropriately tells Samantha she feels like she “busted her cherry”, which gets bleeped. The best part is that she has no idea what she said wrong. Carrie Ann and Bruno are dying while they raise their paddles: She gives a 6, he gives a 5 and Len pulls a 4 for a total of 15. Joanna Krupa & Derek: Is it just me, or is Derek looking a little bit like Ricky Schroeder all of a sudden? Their salsa is pretty damn good for week one! They look great together, that’s for sure, and the moves were exciting and sexy. Len is happy for his sex fix. Bruno compliments Derek and Carrie Ann notices Joanna’s confidence. They get straight 8’s for a 24.
