Martin Short – Ed Grimley himself showed up in Season Three as Tobin’s attorney, Leonard Winstone. Well, sort of an attorney. And that’s really only sort of his name. He lies about a lot of things over the course of the season. His comedic persona is a key part of his character: He initially seems sort of harmless because he’s Martin Short playing a dishonest lawyer. That’s the sort of thing that should lead to hilarity. But as the season rolls on and the depths of his secrets are exposed, you realize that he’s caught you off-guard. He played you the same way he played the Tobin family. And that trademark smirk of his has a whole different meaning when he’s playing a sociopath with a double life. Honestly, I didn’t think he had it in him, but Martin Short was really fantastic on this show.
