Damages 101 – Comedians Get Creepy

Best Moment: The aforementioned smirk when Leonard leaves the series.  His entire life has fallen apart in a burst of fraud and murder, and Leonard just hops a plane with a sack of money, his face betraying only mild bemusement.

Ted Danson – This is the big one.  Danson played billionaire Arthur Frobisher, who was being sued by his former employees in a class-action suit.  He’s accused of misrepresenting the health of his company, insider trading, and draining his employees’ retirement funds.  Thanks to Bored to Death, we’re a little more used to the hedonistic Danson, but when Damages premiered, everybody still thought of him as Cheers’ Sam Malone.  The main antagonist of Season One (and being an antagonist in a show where the lead killed a dog and framed Forbisher to influence a witness is no small feat), he came back as a plaintiff in Season Two, and in Season Three he reinvented himself as a green businessman.  No matter which version of Frobisher it is, you can’t trust him, and he’s always riveting.  Ted Danson plays a character with no redeeming qualities whatsoever, and you’ll find yourself hoping he gets away with it, and then feeling guilty about it.
