One thing you won’t find on Glee is people randomly bursting into song and dancing down the hallway, a la High School Musical. There are great musical numbers, but they are confined to actual performance scenes and the score, which features a lot of four part harmonies, some set to pop songs. The show centers on a Spanish teacher, Will Schuester, who attended the school himself, and jumps on the opportunity to take over the glee club when it’s director, Sandy Reyerson, is let go amid allegations of improper behavior with a male student. (He’s played by the fabulous Stephen Tobolowsky, late of Heroes, who has played someone with the last name Ryerson before!)
