Moments of Joy: The Undiscovered Country

I have two more disappointing finales for you.  Even though I don’t remember a whole lot of the details at this point, I remember being furious that the end of St. Elsewhere ended up revealing to us that all of the trial & tribulations we’d watched unfold at St. Eligus over the years were all the imaginings of autistic Tommy Westphal playing with a snowglobe.  That was ridiculous.

And the worst to me had to be the Seinfeld finale.  After the “show about nothing” had been clever and bordering on genius for so many years, the finale seemed like a major copout.  If you don’t recall, or you were not among the 76 million viewers that night, the gang was aboard a private jet that had to make an emergency landing due to some Kramer antics.  While the foursome were killing time, waiting for their plane to be ready to leave Latham, Mass, they witnessed a carjacking and rather than help the guy, they essentially pointed and laughed at him.
