The Best Shows on TV

Moments of Joy: The Undiscovered Country

The show is based on Louis’ own life, and incorporates his stand-up – in that way, it’s kind of a blend of Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm.Only Jerry’s stand-up was about pointing out absurdities in life – Louis is more likely to riff on sex with animals, specifically, whether the pros outweigh the cons. The scripted scenes, feature Louis being awkward with women, taking care of his kids, or playing poker with his buddies. It ranges from likeably weird to screamingly funny.(The way Louis deals with a school bus breakdown in Harlem is the best laugh of the week.)It’s off to a great start, and to sweeten the pot, next week features Ricky Gervais as Louis’ doctor.
