Among the things that were awesome this week: Kenneth’s plan to save the show (“Bird Internet!”), the poster for Transformers 5 – Planet of the Earth (“Written by No One”), a surprise appearance by former Tina Fey nemesis Aaron Sorkin for one of his patented walk-and-talks, Hank Cooper’s inability to match his voice to his emotions, Jack’s pity for Devin (“He’s on LinkedIn. LinkedIn! He might as well be dead!”), and Devin’s gaybies, complete with an Arrested Development shout-out. Another killer episode of 30 Rock!
Dancing with the Stars – Doesn’t it feel better to have Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke back on the air? The premiere of the 12th season was a lot of fun – it’s always good to see our favorite pros and judges back again, and we’re excited about the new crop of stars. Sugar Ray Leonard is surprisingly nimble – the man glides! “Psycho” Mike Catherwood, who is kind of an unknown, is not a great dancer but is very funny and charming. Ralph “Karate Kid” Macchio’s strong performance was unexpected, but we’ve really got to give it up for Kirstie Alley. We were half-expecting a disaster, but Kirstie pulled the second highest score of the night and shocked everybody. She’s sixty and she is not in the best shape of her life, but she was great! She was warm, funny, and impossible not to root for. To be fair, the whole cast came off really well – there doesn’t seem to be a jerk in the bunch. It looks like we’re in for a fun season of dancing and inappropriate comments from Bruno Tonioli.
