Bob’s Burgers – Without a new 30 Rock this week, we still managed to get our dose of Jack McBrayer, as he showed up on Bob’s Burgers as a transvestite prostitute. Bob got to see the seamy underbelly of the city when he took on a second job as a cab driver. In order to throw Tina the 13th birthday party she wanted, he had to take on a night job to afford it and still pay the rent. This episode also introduced his feud with pizzeria owner Jimmy Pesto, a man desperately jealous of Bob’s mustache. (Given our vocal support of both Bob’s Burgers and facial hair, we’d like to think this episode was written for us.) Tina’s painfully awkward adolescence gives the show some real emotional depth, while still being really funny. It’s so sad when she hides under the table every time she faces a setback, but the hilarious vocal performance gets a laugh. We weren’t immediately sold on Bob’s trick of having female characters voiced by men, but John Roberts as Linda is actually kind of perfect, and Dan Mintz’s Tina just nails that adolescent angst. And of course, we can always count on Louise to crack us up – this week, the bunny-eared tyke helped Tina train for her first kiss. Her training regimen involved more slapping than you might expect…

Thank you! And that’s a nice Raising Hope write-up on your blog! That wasn’t a show I expected to be as good as it is, and I just love it every week.
Thanks for reading – based on your blog, it looks like we enjoy a lot of the same shows. We’re TV Buddies!
