The Best TV Shows on TV – TV’s Moments of Joy: The Burn Unit

Archer – Like the aforementioned Justified, Archer got a third-season renewal this week.  That is just completely awesome.  This week, the focus was on unstable secretary Cheryl (Or Carol.  She changes it often.).  Turns out, she’s not only a strangulation fetishist, she’s also a Tunt – the heiress to a railroad fortune.  She lives in a mansion and owns an ocelot.  (Archer:  “I’ve never even seen an ocelot!”)  A kidnapping attempt went awry, and the kidnappers ended up with Pam from Human Resources.  (They didn’t have much success softening her up, since Pam put herself through college with a fight club.)  It was a really funny episode, with Archer getting mad at Ray for copping his signature black turtleneck, Archer’s fear of cyborgs (the kidnapper’s voice modulator freaked him out), and Cyril’s desperate attempt to convince people he was calling a phone sex line (“Just jackin’ it.  On the telephone.”)  And let’s not forget the running jokes that keep getting funner, like the frequently injured Brett (He’s the guy who gets hit whenever somebody accidentally fires a gun in the office) or Archer’s ringtone (“Mulatto Butts”).  By the way, thanks to Pam, our new favorite insult is “nutsack”.
