TV’s Moments of Joy 2: Electric Boogaloo (May 7-13)

11.  How I Met Your Mother was just OK this week, but they managed to enter yet another fake word into the pop culture lexicon.  Upon entering a very pretentious New York cocktail party, Barney took one look around and uttered the fantastic “Douchepocolypse”.  Ha!

12.  As you savvy internet peeps no doubt already know, Betty White hosted last week’s Saturday Night Live largely as the result of a facebook campaign.  And the 88 and a half year old legend did not disappoint, beginning with the massive burst of applause when she appeared in the cold open.  She was in almost every sketch (I half-expected her to come out and rap with Jay-Z) and she hit every mark and delivered every line with ease.  Sure, much of the humor centered on an old broad uttering double entendres, saying “lesbian” multiple times in a row and things like “Wizard of Ass!” but, bottom line, it was FUNNY and just a joy to watch an icon at work.
