Archer – Archer’s illegitimate son returned this week! (Well, actually Cyril’s child, but that’s a whole other thing.) We love the way that everybody always refers to him as “The Wee Baby Seamus”. The main plot, about Woodhouse’s WWI fighter squadron was killer, but everything with the Wee Baby Seamus was just ridiculously funny. “He might be a tiny bit… hungover”. “A ton of stuff just started to make sense to me”. And Archer’s out-of-nowhere insult “Baby, you’re pear-shaped.” This baby is going to be a flat-out alcoholic before the season is over. Modern Family–Another solid outing, which had Claire getting furious at Phil for a reason he didn’t even understand. I think every married guy has been there. Poor Phil didn’t know what he’d done or said wrong, and the scene where former stylist Gloria gave him a haircut while they tried to figure it out was hysterical. As was when he blurted out “Happy ValenBirthiversary!” in a feeble attempt to make it right. Claire took her dad to the mall instead of Phil (who didn’t want to go anyway; as it turns out Claire loves getting chair massages, maybe a little too much.) and confided in him that she was so made because Phil tried a wedge salad at the behest of that smarmy Skip Woosnam, when she’s been telling him to have one for years, and he’s never listened! Mitchell screwed up too, by forgetting to mail Cam’s invitations to a fundraiser of some kind. Eric Stonestreet was spot on in his pain, telling Mitchell that now, the only attendees for the evening would be anger, betrayal, terror and sadness. Oh, and Luke as his helper (with headset, dressed in “upscale casual”!) was a hoot.
