The Best Shows on TV

TV’s Moments of Joy: Kisses Feel Like Punishment

But creator David Milch had a five-season plan in place, and much of what turned out to be the final season was spent on the George Hearst arc, to the extent that many regulars were squeezed out for episodes at a time.  And then there was the time spent building up the theater troupe, who were to be important in Season Four – instead, they ended up with no payoff whatsoever.  Heck, I really wish Milch could have completed the whole series as planned, but I desperately want another 12 episodes.  Let us know how things worked out with Sol and Trixie, and whether Swearengen and Tolliver ever went to war.  Or poor Mrs. Garrett, widowed twice in three years.  Where does she go next?  How about Doc Cochran’s tuberculosis?  TV would be a better place if Seth Bullock just got one more season to maintain order.
