TV’s Moments of Joy: Kisses Feel Like Punishment

As ever, TV (and TV-adjacent projects) brought smiles to our faces and springs to our steps.  So what happened this week that made us happy?  Well, there’s a killer turtle, a magic contest, and new developments in facial hair.  Read on!

Mad Men – While there was a lot to love about this bleak, but funny, episode, one thing especially felt like a little gift.  When Don Draper and Lane Pryce went to the movies (with their flasks), they say what any Mystery Science Theater 3000 fan will immediately recognize as Gamera.  The giant turtle knockoff of Godzilla appeared on MST3K multiple times, so something just felt right about Don and Lane yelling smartass comments at the movie.  With Matthew Weiner being a notorious stickler for historical accuracy, it’s not likely that he’ll add a couple of wisecracking robots to the show anytime soon, but we can dream…
