TV’s Moments of Joy: Kisses Feel Like Punishment
By the way, did anybody else notice that the mustaches in the real show look more like porn ‘staches than the facial hair in the dirty version?
Shaq Vs. – The weirdest show on network TV brought its A game this week, with Shaq taking part in two more unlikely competitions. Technically, this was the second time he’s boxed on the show, after a bout with Oscar de la Hoya last season. And while we don’t know why they’re repeating a sport, we don’t mind one bit. This week, Shaq sparred with Sugar Shane Mosley, who weighs 147 pounds. Shaq? 325. Shaq is equivalent to 2.2 Sugar Shanes! It’s actually really interesting to see him box, because his reach advantage and density help out quite a bit. You wouldn’t think you could hit Shaq hard enough to hurt him. You know in The Punisher when Frank fights the Russian, and just starts breaking things over his head and it really doesn’t even leave a mark? That’s what boxing Shaq is like. But he’s not fast, and he doesn’t have the stamina. So after a while, Sugar Shane start hitting him with flurries of jabs. (By the way, this is the most we will ever have to say on the subject of boxing, outside of any cable airings of Diggstown that we might catch.) The cool thing is that you got to see that Shaq was getting banged up, including some nasty cuts on his face. It’s not cool that he got hurt, but it is cool that he’s really putting in the effort. For such a weird little show, he’s really taking his lumps, and the guy’s a darn good sport.
