So, what made us happy on TV this week? Well…
Conan – In December, Conan O’Brien visited the WB Animation Studio and had animator Bruce Timm (who designed and produced the legendary Batman: The Animated Series) make him into a superhero. “The Flaming C” wore a steaming oven mitt, fishnets, and casual loafers, and was completely ridiculous. This was a great bit. Well, this week Bruce Timm upped the ante by providing Conan with a special cut of Cartoon Network’s Young Justice. In the clip, they replaced Superman with The Flaming C, and the results were absolutely delightful. It was hilarious to see Conan’s goofy superhero persona alongside Batman and Aquaman, and Conan’s commentary made it even better. (He suggested that the Flash was jealous of his beard, and couldn’t get over the stupid-looking magician character on the team. Even those of us who can identify Zatara couldn’t figure out why the hell he was in that scene, by the way.) We’ve heard that more clips are to come, and we’re really hoping that they doctor up a Brave and the Bold clip for Conan next. Or heck, as bonkers as Brave and the Bold has been, we could see them actually teaming Batman up with The Flaming C for a real episode. Let’s make it happen, guys!
