We’re totally in the tank for Bob’s Burgers, so check it out!
Delocated – We got two interesting pieces of news this week about one of our favorite shows. First, Adult Swim will be releasing the first two seasons on DVD in May. We’ll pass along further details as soon as we hear something. Second, creator and star Jon Glaser has a book coming out in February – My Dead Dad was in ZZ Top. It’s a collection of little-known (and also completely false) facts about musicians, including “Formerly classified government documents with shocking revelations about the Navy SEALs and the Butthole Surfers”. This sounds like a book that we very much want to read. Wipeout – We’re loving the winter season of TV’s most painful show. Seriously, whoever came up with the idea of setting a speedy moving walkway on the path to the Big Balls deserves some kind of award. This week, our favorite contestant was “Unbreakable” Elise Schuetz. This spunky young lady told Jill Wagner that she was on Wipeout because “I want to know what it feels like to get punched in the face”. HA! We admire that. Elise racked up an awesome time on the Qualifier, and had some of the most spectacular wipeouts of the night. We don’t know how she’s not in traction after getting knocked off the Ski Lift, really. Sadly, she didn’t make it to the final Wipeout Zone, but she was fun to watch right up until then. Mike Detective – OK, this isn’t TV, but we think it counts. We’re big fans of Scott Aukerman’s Comedy Death-Ray podcast, and now they’ve started a spinoff. Mike Detective comes from Rob Huebel, and it’s an old-style radio play except that it’s also hilarious. Full of tortured analogies (“Like Linda Blair in the sequel to The Exorcist, my car had been repossessed”) and cleverly stupid dialogue, Mike Detective is a really funny weekly series – you can subscribe on iTunes or on earwolf.com. And since Huebel is a regular on Childrens Hospital and also appears on The Office and The League, we’re still counting it as a TV Moment of Joy.
