TV’s Moments of Joy — Savage and Stark

The Good Guys – This week was the season finale, and they went out in style.  The first few minutes of the episode had Dan Stark jumping through a restaurant’s storefront window to catch a dine-and-dash, causing $400 worth of damage to nail a guy who skipped out on a $6.50 tab.  Even worse, the guy got away.  And then he ended up as a suspect in a murder that he couldn’t possibly have committed because he was busy running from Dan at the time.  But even better were the subplots – we got some payoff to Samantha’s long-building crush on Jack, which was adorable and kind of heartbreaking.  And, in what we can only assume was creator Matt Nix’s Christmas present to us, we got to see Savage and Stark, the 1985 TV-movie about Dan and is old partner, and their rescue of the Governor’s son.  It was just as glorious as we had imagined.  This show was one of the most fun things we saw all season, and the finale was the perfect wrap-up.  Sure, we’re desperately hoping there’s a Season Two, but if not, we’ll always have Savage and Stark.
