The Simpsons – Jon Hamm continued his quest to appear on every single show that we like by guest-voicing an FBI agent on Sunday’s episode. And once again, he was great. He helped Homer go undercover in the Mafia, which meant we also got an appearance by Joe Mantegna as Fat Tony. This was really a unique episode, because Fat Tony actually died. You can count on one hand the number of recurring Simpsons characters who died for good since 1990. Bleeding Gums Murphy, Maude Flanders, Mona Simpson, maybe Dr. Nick Riviera (who was crushed by debris in the movie) – and now Fat Tony. Of course, the third act introduced us to his cousin named Fit Tony who had exactly the same voice and face. And then he started putting on weight, so they called him Fat Fit Tony, and then finally just Fat Tony. So it’s not a huge diversion from the status quo, but it still made for a pretty shocking act break.
