The Best Shows on TV

TV’s Moments of Joy: Thunder Muscle!

The League — We are not exactly experts on football. Well, technically, one of us in a Fantasy League, and the other hasn’t watched a game since last year when ABC would run promos for the final season of Lost at halftime. So, at least half of us are not the target audience of a fantasy football-themed comedy. But this FX show has gradually become a bro version of Curb Your Enthusiasm, and we love it. Last week’s episode was really a standout, with Kevin’s massive collection of … For Dummies books, a discussion of inadvertent racism, an errant bladed weapon, and the wanton abuse of a major children’s charity. The cast is really coming together – we especially love Paul Scheer’s painfully awkward Andre and Nick Kroll as the sour Ruxin. And hey, the episode boasted a guest appearance from Lake Bell of Childrens Hospital fame. The League has gone from being the show you watch because it’s on after It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia to being a show that deserves to be in the FX Power Lineup.
