The Venture Bros. “Dia de Los Dangerous”

–This whole thing really plays out like the boys have never met the Monarch before.  Hank claims that Baron Underbheit is Doc’s real archenemy, and I really think that was the original intent.  Only, the Monarch turned out to be hilarious, so he stuck around.  It even seems like Monarch is doing other things with his time than hassling Doc at this point, so his character-defining obsession hasn’t quite clicked yet.

“You’re a zombie or something!  I never should have played God!  Oh, the folly of it!  The hubris!” – Dr. Venture

In bed with Dr. Girlfriend, the Monarch tells her that he feels sorry for the poor Venture kids.  After some prodding, he reveals his origin – his parents’ private plane crashed in Pine Barrens, where he was raised by monarch butterflies, until they all migrated to Mexico and left him alone, and now he’s in Mexico to find his foster parents, but Dr. Girlfriend tells him butterflies only live about nine months.  Doc mourns at Brock’s grave, and them Brock wakes up and claws his way out of the ground still clutching Speedy’s corpse.
