–I have no idea whether this origin for the Monarch is still in continuity or not. I don’t think it’s ever been referenced again, though. As a kid, he’s a dead ringer for the Daredevil villain, The Owl. Also, it’s funny to me that he’s raised in Pine Barrens. First off, that’s a Sopranos reference – it’s the title of the series’ best episode. Second, it’s not that huge of an area. It’s not like he was lost in Borneo or something.

Hank and Dean try to pick the lock on their cell using a belt, until the Monarch lets them out to give them cookies. They ineffectually attack him. Brock finds the cocoon and leaves HELPeR to pilot the X-1. He and Doc climb in Brock’s car (after Doc is attacked by a chupacabra), and Brock drives it right out of the cargo hatch and through the ceiling of the cocoon. He sends Doc to find the boys while he deals with the henchmen.
