–Doc’s “drug addict” phase only lasts for the first few episodes, but it’s an important plot point in at least the first two. It’s another awesome Brock scene, and this is where we first see 24. You’ll hear his unmistakable voice on a few lines, including the act-ending “Wow. That sucked.”

The Monarch isn’t happy that the henchmen brought back Hank and Dean, because he’s afraid of reprisals from Brock. 24 tells him that they killed Brock, which gets the Monarch on board with the kidnapping. He leaves Doc a message on the wrist communicator. We cut to a scene of a fetus who looks sort of like Doc, being nibbled in the womb by its identical twin – this is revealed to be a dream, as Doc wakes up in a tub full of ice, with a note taped to his chest telling him that his kidney has been removed. Actually, both kidneys. He can’t reach Brock, but he calls in HELPeR, who’s been decked out like a lowrider with flame decals and an array of horns that play “La Cucaracha” mounted on his head. Doc hops on his back for a ride back to the X-1.
