The Venture Bros. “Eeny, Meeny, Miney… Magic!”

Doc explains to Dean that the man is renting out part of the Venture Compound – he’s a boarder.  He takes Dean to meet Orpheus and settle things, and Orpheus manages to creep them out a little bit.  Meanwhile, Hank hangs out with Brock while he exercises, and Brock alludes to the only woman he ever loved.  Doc and Orpheus talk in Orpheus’ living room.  Doc finally realizes that Orpheus is not a scientist at all, and Orpheus decries Doc’s newest invention.

–Almost everything Orpheus says is funny, partly because he’s so verbose and over-the-top, but partly because his dialogue is always accompanied by dramatic music.  The scenes with Hank and Brock are cute, because we get to see how Hank idolizes the guy.  We also first hear about Brock’s lost love and his passion for Led Zeppelin.  (Composer J.G. Thirlwell does an awesome job of coming up with faux-Zep as background music.)  And the scene where Hank gets stuck on what a funny word “scuba” is and Brock grudgingly agrees?  Jackson Publick has mentioned this as his favorite scene in the series.  It’s also my friend Sam’s favorite scene, but he doesn’t have as much clout.
