“I’m kind of home tutored, in a box my Pop made. It sometimes gets very hot in the box… my Pop made.” – Dean Venture
Dean meets Orpheus’ daughter, Triana. He’s instantly smitten. They bond over cereal. Hank and Brock work on HELPeR, and Hank wanders into the mysterious chamber from the opening. Inside is a field, where Doc invites him to toss the football around, and an unseen mother made sandwiches. Brock pulls him out of there and gets set to destroy the chamber, until something entices him in. The door closes behind him.
–It’s Triana! This is really the first time we see either of the boys interact with somebody their own age. And even though she’s a Goth girl whose father is a Necromancer, she still gives us a look at how strange the boys must seem to outsiders. It’s so sad to see Dean try and interact with somebody who doesn’t live in his world. And poor Hank – we’ll see what that chamber is about soon enough, but he has such a simple wish. He wants his dad to spend time with him, and he wants a mom. If you think too much about it, Hank and Dean can really make you sad.
