I was all ready to crown my Most Awesome for the week as the new episode of ER–yes, ER–which featured guest turns from (drumroll, please) Julianna Margulies, Eriq LaSalle, Susan Sarandon and George Clooney. Sarandon was a bonus, playing the grandmother of a teen who is brain dead. Clooney and Margulies, slipping right back into the characters of Doug Ross and Carol Hathaway with ease, grace and chemistry to spare, had to convince this woman to let the brain dead boy go (she is sure he squeezed her hand after she agreed to organ donation) and allow the transplant teams waiting to harvest them and save some lives. Clooney is quite simply magic in his scenes. What other man can utter the line “I’m good at spelling” and kind of make you all tingly? Only The Clooney. Eriq LaSalle got to reunite with old foil Noah Wyle and just hearing him yell, “Carter!” brought back instant memories of this show’s first few spectacular seasons.
