The Most Awesome Thing

The Most Awesome Things We Saw Last Week (Oct 27)

I wasn’t really expecting much, so maybe I ended up liking it more because of that fact, but either way, it’s a great clip.

I do have to point out that this is the week that I stumbled upon erotic Metalocalypse fanfic, so everything seems more awesome for not being that.
This week, I have to give it to The Office. Everything gelled perfectly this week, with Michael and Holly’s relationship hitting its stride, and Michael hosting CRIME-AID after the office is robbed.  So many hilarious moments, it’s hard to choose a favorite.  Michael’s ten favorite Bruce Springsteen songs (including “three Huey Lewis and the News songs, Tracy Chapman “Fast Car”, and my favorite, “Short People”), the revelation that Creed apparently murdered and replaced the real Creed Bratton after he stole from him, Ryan’s awkwardness when David Wallace showed up at the auction, Holly’s endearing dorkiness, what exactly CRIME-AID stands for (Crime Reduces Innocence, Makes Everybody Angry I Declare), Kevin bemoaning the loss of his surge protector, Creed’s “all-inclusive” auction item, and the security guard’s second career.

But best of all was the fantastic storyline with Dwight and Phyllis.  Rainn Wilson has been so good since the beginning, but he really has been adding so much depth to Dwight over the last year or two.  This week, we saw him in real pain over Angela’s engagement, and he turns to Phyllis for comfort.  Their previous scenes have pretty much always involved Dwight saying horrible things to her, so watching her help him was really sweet.  Of course, Dwight remains Dwight, and he has to do things like let the air out of her tire to get her attention.  It’s a great performance from the both of them, culminating in Dwight bidding on a hug from Phyllis.  “Five hundred dollars and one penny!”  It’s a scene that in its own way, is just as heartbreaking as anything we’ve seen from the series thus far.
