The Most Awesome Thing

The Most Awesome Think I Saw Last Week: We Heart Al Roker!

Another awesome thing that happened in the last week was on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.  Seems as if Fallon is really starting to hit his stride in Conan’s old spot.  Mind you, I don’t think the network’s putting too much pressure on him; his numbers have been solid and they’re getting what they need from him.  Jimmy’s been working up his own bits and honing his interview skills.  One of the bits is that he’s trying to get together a Saved By the Bell reunion, which is random, funny and very Gen-X/Gen-Y.  So far, the only hold-outs are Kelly and Screech, and you have to think Dustin Diamond is just waiting for his invitation.  (Not sure about Tiffani Theissen.)  The latest addition to the group was Mark-Paul Gosselaar, who came on the show to promote his TNT show, Raising the Bar.  Only, instead of Mark being interviewed, the actor came out dressed as Zack Morris, complete with slicked-back blonde highlights (a perfect wig replica of his teenage coif), acid wash jeans, unlaced hightops and a giant, early 90s cell phone.  He even played the classic song from Bayside High’s Zack Attack, “Friends Forver” with house band The Roots!  It was an absolutely hilarious sketch, scripted perfectly for the target audience, and Gosselaar deserves major props for agreeing to the gag and then completely owning it.
