Arrested Development – “Afternoon Delight”
Original airdate 12/19/04
In case I haven’t mentioned it a million times by now, Arrested Development is probably the greatest sitcom ever. And I only say “probably” so that I have wiggle room if somebody wants to argue with me. But really, those people are wrong.
As with every episode of the series, this Season Two installment is steeped in continuity and in-jokes, so it may be hard to summarize. (Also, as with every episode of the series, it contains at least one character making an accidental reference to oral sex. You have to love their level of commitment.) This particular episode takes place during GOB’s stint as President of the Bluth Company, and he’s not doing so well. For starters, he’s incompetent. Also, he not only believes he is in all ways superior to the people who work for him, but he keeps telling them that.
(In a great running joke, every time GOB references his suit, it gets more expensive. At the beginning of the episode, it’s an “eight-hundred dollar suit”. By the end, it’s up to $7,000.)
