DON (Not Draper) Old photos. Moments in time, captured forever, serving as a window to a point in time that was better or worse than the present. It was clever of Mad Men this week to use a few old photos in the same way Peggy masterfully brainstormed the Western Union creative campaign. If we’ve learned anything from Mad Men, it’s that you’ve got to watch the sub-plots to know the real story of the main plot.
You can deny that a conversation happened. A brilliant idea can jump into and out of your head quickly and be gone forever. But you can’t deny what you see in a photo (or read in a Western Union telegram).
