Instead, I’m going to talk about the new series, Thor: The Mighty Avenger. This series isn’t set in standard Marvel continuity – instead, it presents a streamlined version of Thor as he makes his first appearance on Earth. For reasons that have yet to be revealed, he’s lost part of his memory, and he can no longer access Asgard (home of the Norse gods). That’s not really the main thrust of the series, though. It’s actually a fun and emotionally rich story of Thor learning about the human world while simultaneously embracing the really awesome trappings that come with being Thor. He’s experiencing the simple beauty of a rainbow, but also realizing that he has a chariot that flying goats will take anywhere.
