Chris Samnee’s art is gorgeous. Most of what I’ve seen from him has been high-contrast noir material. He does darkness really well. Based on his previous work, I wouldn’t have picked him to do light-hearted Thor stories. A detective obsessed with trepanation, sure. Flying goats? Not so much. But I would have been wrong. He’s absolutely perfect here – his faces are so emotive, and there’s just a real sense of fun. Every issue is just beautiful. I freak out a little whenever it comes out, and I will tell anybody within earshot that if they don’t buy Thor: The Mighty Avenger, they make bad decisions and also embody everything that’s wrong with the comics industry. It’s such a perfect series – it’s impossible not to love.
