There are a lot of really good things coming out from Marvel and DC’s superhero lines, so I’m going to talk about the things they’re doing that make me happy right now. And since this is A Beautiful Gory Display, there’s only one guy we can really start with…
Batman Beyond (DC) – Back in the early days of the 21st Century, the creators of the masterpiece Batman: The Animated Series produced a spinoff. Set decades in the future, a new Batman, Terry McGinnis, protects Gotham City with support from the now-elderly Bruce Wayne. The Batman Beyond cartoon was great, presenting a new take on the Bat-universe while still being true to what had been established. Terry was full of high school angst and the senior Bruce Wayne was a cranky old bastard. Sadly, Terry kind of disappeared over the last few years, with only an occasional tease in the comics and a couple of guest shots on Justice League to tide us over.
