A Beautiful Gory Display: The Moments of Joy Edition

But more than just rehashing the animated series, this comic also brings new characters and ideas to the Batman Beyond world.  There’s a new version of Catwoman, who in a clever touch actually is descended from a completely different character and.  We learn what happened to Dick Grayson, who never made an appearance in the cartoon.  And we get to see the Beyond incarnation of Hush, who in a completely unprecedented move, is not terrible.

I’m sure I’ve mentioned this before, but Hush is a miserable character, and DC wants to shove him down our throats.  Some really good writers have attempted Hush stories, and none of them have turned out well.  The only good thing about Hush is that he’s well designed from a visual perspective.  Heck, he doesn’t even bring any special abilities to the table in the Lego Batman video game.  I die inside whenever Hush appears, because I know it’s not going to be good.  Until now, that is.
