In the weeks after this episode, Jeff Fahey gave several interviews where he said he didn’t appear in the finale, so we all thought that was the last we saw of Frank. But guess who turned up in the series finale, alive and well? It takes more than an explosion, head injury, and drowning to kill Frank! Our boy Lapidus managed to get Aljira Flight 316 in the air again (a plane which he himself coaxed to a landing with no instruments on a runway made of sand) and get the survivors back to civilization. The amazing thing about this is that the hydraulics were literally held together with duct tape and the Island was collapsing around them. And then? When most of the cast was united in the afterlife because the experiences they shared were “the most important time in their lives”, Frank wasn’t there. So all that? Wasn’t even the high point in Frank’s life. Frank Lapidus doesn’t need an afterlife. His reward is that he gets to be Frank Lapidus.
