INSECT OF THE YEAR – The titular fly from an absolutely stunning episode of Breaking Bad. The whole episode was set inside Walter’s new meth lab, with Walt obsessing over a fly that shouldn’t have been able to get in. Everything stopped as Walt and Jesse went after that bug, with occasional moments of almost cartoonish violence (with real consequences) and some searing emotional turns. (Did anybody else think that Walt was going to slip up and admit that he could have saved Jane?) A fast-moving season slowed down to catch that fly, and the result was one of the best episodes of the year.
