Will Arnett: If you’d asked me six months ago who I most wanted to see as the new boss, Arnett would have been my top choice. There’s nobody better at playing rich d-bags who you end up loving in spite of yourself. Just look at GOB on Arrested Development or Steve Wilde of Running Wilde. He can be clueless and faintly threatening at the same time. Will would bring a whole new vibe to The Office. Imagine a guy from the Sabre corporate office who’s miserable about having to move out to the sticks – in his mind, his run up the management ladder has been scuttled, and now he has to deal with the fruitcakes of the Scranton branch. Will Arnett is awesome at misreading social cues (see his appearance on Parks and Recreation), and he can do absurd physical comedy (check out his fight with Will Ferrell in Blades of Glory) as well as clever, subtle readings (as seen in every episode of Arrested Development). Heck, just check out the middle of the second season of AD, when GOB ran the Bluth Company for a few episodes and built his management style around making sure his employees knew how much more his suit cost than theirs. Arnett on The Office is a dream scenario, and in fact, that’s who Ricky Gervais recommended for the job. That’s a guy who knows a thing or two about who’s funny.
