Dwight Schrute: He was already picked to succeed Michael once, and as the owner of the building, he’s got the leverage. For story purposes, Dwight would make an interesting choice. He’d definitely be a bad boss, but he’d be a different kind of bad than Michael. I’d really like to see how he interacts with the larger Sabre corporation – would he be a sycophant, or is his real loyalty to the idea of Dunder Mifflin? On the other hand, Dwight having power is a little too dark. It might make for a few really good episodes, but it doesn’t seem sustainable. He’d have to soften up, and we’d hate to see that happen.
