The Shut-In’s Guide to the Best of TV, 2008 – Part 2

As 2008 winds to a close, it’s time to set about the task of ranking everything I’ve seen and putting it in numerical order. In this second installment of my Best of 2008 list, we’ll take a look at the Top Ten.
10. Middleman (ABC Family) – “Fighting evil so you don’t have to!” This series is like a digital image of my brain, with gorilla mob bosses, luchadores, parallel universes, zombies who hunger for trout, murderous puppets, and experimental art. Middleman took a quirky premise and filled it with likeable characters, intriguing conspiracies, and a sense of humor as big as all outdoors. Over-the-top plotlines combined with grounded characters to provide a season’s worth of fun. And if somehow the idea of an intelligent ape in a tracksuit doesn’t entertain you (and if it doesn’t, I don’t even want to know you), Middleman also taught us how to pronounce “!!!”. No word yet on whether we can expect a second season, but a world without Middleman is a dark and joyless place.
