The Tonight Show: The Conan Era

As I write this, I’m on my second cup of coffee while I watch CBS Sunday Morning.  My favorite satellite radio stations are 70s on 7 and 80s on 8.  I turned 36 this year, so I’ve officially exited certain desirable demographics that advertisers often target.  Some might call me old.  Yet, I don’t really feel old.  One thing that I feel keeps me young is my appreciation and enjoyment of comedy that crosses generations and sensibilities.  I was fortunate enough to grow up with Johnny Carson’s Tonight Show and though I haven’t always loved his middle-of-the-road comedy, I also appreciated the stable, steady presence of Jay Leno at 11:30.  Unlike many who feel this warmly about his predecessors, I am equally excited to watch as Conan O’Brien assumes the mantle this week.
