The Tonight Show: The Conan Era

And, really, Jay is on at 10, against other primetime fare.  If you are an avid DVR user who records a number of shows and watches them on your own time, are you really stopping everything to watch Jay?  Doubtful.  But, if you see that someone you enjoy will be a guest, you might record it and watch at your convenience.  The biggest reason that Jay Leno has a show 5 nights a week in primetime is because NBC is a troubled network that didn’t have enough in development, and this show will cost next to nothing to produce.  Add to this the well-documented fact that Jay Leno is a workaholic who probably couldn’t stand to be unemployed and you have a show.
