TV’s Best Bars

The Waterfront Baltimore, MD This old-school watering hole has an interesting twist – it’s owned and managed by actual Baltimore Homicide detectives.  Current manager Meldrake Lewis is still active on the force, and is an almost daily presence behind the bar. (Co-owner John Munch moved to New York City, and their partner, Tim Bayliss is better known as Baltimore’s notorious “Killer Cop” and is currently in prison.)  It’s a warm, friendly place that conjures up memories of Baltimore’s great traditions.  The menu is simple, but often spectacular – several notches above standard bar food.  Lewis knows the value of quality crab, and it shows.  Also impressive is the menu’s lone pasta dish, Al G’s Linguini.  It’s not the hippest spot in town, which is for the best.  It’s the perfect place for somebody who wants a good meal and a strong drink and a nice view of the water. Four Stars (Homicide: Life on the Street)

  1. The Regal Beagle!

  2. You just heard two people simultaneously kicking themselves for forgetting that one…

  3. DAMMIT!

  4. Bob’s Burgers sells beer!

    • But I guess it wasn’t on the air yet when this was published. I just wanted to give the Belcher’s a shout out. (Also it’s a restaurant, not technically a bar)

      • They definitely would have made the list these days! It’s a weird detail that they rarely acknowledge, but it’s very funny that Bob has a liquor license.
